Instagram does not need any introduction. It is one of the most popular social media platforms in existence today and enables you to see what your friends, family and followed celebrity are up to.

While there are some benefits to Instagram, as a global social media platform, there are clearly many potential downsides: (a) addiction to social media (b) high screen time might adversely effects ones eyesight (c) side effects of the ‘like button’ culture.

Most people consider Instagram as an important app and tend to keep it on the first or second screen of their phone app page, for quick accessibility. We can leverage this fact to reduce the screen time for Instagram and other social media platforms.

iPhone: Move apps to the App Library

On iPhones, an easy way is to move Instagram (or other social media apps) to the App Library.

  1. Touch and hold the app (until they start shaking)
  2. Tap Remove App.
  3. Tap Remove from Home Screen.

Android: Move apps to the last app screen

On Android phones, an easy way is to move the Instagram apps to the last screen or embed the social media apps with folders, making it difficult to access the app.
